Cooking Tips

The SRF Kurobuta pork tenderloin, sometimes called the pork filet or pork tender, is considered the most desirable of all pork cuts. Boneless with no visible fat, our Kurobuta pork tenderloin is juicy, flavorful and deliciously tender to the bite. This small cut cooks quickly and can be prepared simply as is, dry rubbed or seasoned with marinades.

A center-of-the-plate superstar, the SRF Kurobuta pork tenderloin is fantastic for a quick weeknight meal but can be prepared for more formal occasions.

Average weight: 1.75 lbs. Each package contains 2 tenderloins.

SRF Kurobuta tenderloins are a small, lean cut and cook up juicy and flavorful. Avoid overcooking to prevent the tenderloins from drying out.

Internal temperature is the most accurate way to know if your pork is done. The USDA recommends 145°F, but experiment with slightly lower temps so your tenderloin doesn’t dry out. A hint of pink should be visible for the most tender and juicy results.

To roast, heat oven to 400°F. Season the tenderloin with salt and pepper. Quickly pan sear to achieve a brown exterior. Place seared tenderloin on a baking sheet and roast for 15 to 18 minutes or until the temperature is 135°F to 145°F. Let rest 5 minutes.

Kurobuta pork is delicious with just salt and pepper, but they also take well to ethnic flavors and spice.

The tenderloin works well with both sweet and savory sauces. Asian flavors like hoisin and teriyaki are delicious. A classic mushroom gravy is also a good pairing.

What is Kurobuta Pork?

Kurobuta is a heritage breed with flavor superior to commodity pork. This premium pork is known as Berkshire in England and Kurobuta in Japan, where it is considered the culinary equivalent of Wagyu beef. Kurobuta contains abundant marbling for a heightened flavor profile and higher pH which creates a deep pink color and an increased moisture content. The result is pork with robust juicy flavor, tender texture and a hint of natural sweetness.
