What is Kurobuta Pork?

Kurobuta is a heritage breed with flavor superior to commodity pork. This premium pork is known as Berkshire in England and Kurobuta in Japan, where it is considered the culinary equivalent of Wagyu beef. Kurobuta contains abundant marbling for a heightened flavor profile and higher pH which creates a deep pink color and an increased moisture content. The result is pork with robust juicy flavor, tender texture and a hint of natural sweetness.

FAQ

Everything you need to know before your first bite.

Find answers to our customers' most commonly asked questions.

How much ham per person?

We recommend at least 8 oz. for each person at your table. If you want to have leftovers or your crowd is full of hearty eaters, use 12 oz. for your calculations.

How to smoke a ham

Place the ham directly on the smoker, cover, and allow it to smoke until it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F (approximately 4 hours).

Once the ham reaches 135°F, brush the entire ham with the glaze. Cover the smoker and allow the glaze to set for 5 minutes. Coat the ham once more with the glaze, cover the smoker, and allow the ham to continue cooking for another 5 minutes. Repeat the glazing process until the glaze is gone or the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F.

Remove the ham from the smoker and allow it to rest for 15 to 20 minutes before slicing and serving.

I was disappointed. The ham

"I was disappointed. The ham had good flavor but there was a lot of fat and not a lot of usable meat."

— Elizabeth H. (1/5)

BEST hams EVER! These hams

"BEST hams EVER! These hams remind me of hams served when I was a kid. I am now almost 80 years and I started ordering these SRF hams about 3 years ago or so. Best thing I ever did regarding hams. Worth every single cent spent and hardly any waste. Taste, hardly any fat, ordering and shipping no problems. This is a very good and trusted company to whom I send wishes for continued success. God Bless."

I ordered this ham for

"I ordered this ham for Easter Dinner. It came packaged very well with plenty of ice and it was frozen. It took 3 days to thaw. I cooked this in a slow cooker (recommended by a friend). I packed the bottom of the cooker with plenty of brown sugar placed the ham in flat side down and then covered the ham with with more brown sugar. . I cooked it u til the temperature read 140°. The ham came out unbelievably moist and sweet from the brown sugar. Everyone agreed it was the best tasting ham they had eaten. It was worth every penny I paid for it and can’t wait to order it again."

— Paul L. (5/5)

Excellent ham. Tender, juicy, flavorful.

"Excellent ham. Tender, juicy, flavorful. My husband rendered the fat so we can use it in future meals. Since I had my first SRF bone-in ham last Christmas, I have purchased a second one for myself, two for my brother, and for Easter I sent one over to my parents. It is beyond delicious. I cannot go back to regular supermarket/Costco hams."

— Christie G. (5/5)

Don’t hesitate. Buy. Eat. Enjoy.

"Don’t hesitate. Buy. Eat. Enjoy. Life is short- eat good ham! Seriously though, this is truly the best ham you can buy. It’s not too salty and perfectly succulent. I have put it on the smoker for an amazing double smoked ham and look forward to using the bone for soup!"

— Barbara G. (5/5)

Probably the best ham that

"Probably the best ham that my family and I have ever eaten. Easy to prepare, I glazed it but it wasn’t even necessary. The ham was moist, slightly smoked and full of flavor. Will buy again and again and I’ve tried plenty of mail order hams. This is quality."

— Caroline B. (5/5)

The entire family said this

"The entire family said this was the best ham they ever had. It was super good, moist and flavorful. Thank you so much. We will be making purchasing in the future from Snake River Farms. Pete"

— Peter W. (5/5)

We loved the Bone-In Half

"We loved the Bone-In Half Ham. You rarely see a ham of any type with fat attached. Fat is what adds flavor. Our ham had some fat, and it was awesome."

— James A. (5/5)

This is the second time

"This is the second time ordering our Easter ham and it is just as juicy and flavourful as the first time. The best ham I or any of my guests ever tasted!"
