Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good price for ¼ beef?

Our quarter beef box is 65 pounds of American Wagyu individually cut and packaged. Buying the quarter beef will save you over 25% from buying each cut separately.

Is it worth buying a quarter cow?

Yes, it’s one of the best ways to save on premium beef, stock your freezer, and enjoy a wide variety of cuts at home.

Will I be able to tell the difference between beef breeds?

Absolutely, our American Wagyu delivers richer marbling and deeper flavor than conventional or Prime beef.

Is the quarter beef grass-fed?

Our beef is pasture-raised and grain-finished to achieve superior marbling and flavor. We carefully source our own feed, raise our own cattle and build our own feed yards and facilities. Our true ranch-to-table system is the most comprehensive in the beef industry.

Do I need special equipment or butchering knowledge?

No, the cuts arrive trimmed, portioned, vacuum-sealed, and ready to thaw and cook or freeze.

How is it shipped and packaged?

It’s shipped frozen in insulated packaging with dry ice to ensure freshness on arrival.

This cut is the cheapest

"This cut is the cheapest cut we received from SRF as a bonus (get 2 if you spend more than $399) which I usually wouldn’t normally eat and despite it being one of the cheaper cuts it was incredibly delicious! I’m a steak snob and that says a lot! LOL"

When you can get this

"When you can get this on sale, you can't go wrong, minimal cost of standard ground beef with significantly more flavor. Made a quick meat sauce that tastes like it was an all day ragu."

These are awesome to reverse

"These are awesome to reverse sear. Smoke at 190F to an internal temp of 125F. Pull and increase the out temp to as hot as you can get. Use the flat side of grill grates or a cast iron griddle. Drizzle steaks with avocado oil and sear for 20 seconds. Flip. Another 20s. Flip and repeat. Pull and let stand for 5 min. Totally awesome."

The marbling in this steak

"The marbling in this steak is incredible. It sliced like butter and the taste was something I'd never experienced. My guest marvaled at it's tenderness. I ordered more as only having one on hand is never enough."

Another winner from SRF! I

"Another winner from SRF! I stocked up on sale. As is usual for me. . . prep was simple. Pre-salted with Kosher salt. Bring to room temp before ploping into hot cast iron skillet. (Wipe pre-salt off and be sure steak is patted dry before putting into hot skillet. I also like to put about 1T. of beef tallow into skillet before meat. I like about 3 minutes on each side at med. high including searing. Yummmm!"

We have been getting steaks

"We have been getting steaks from David Burke Prime to cook for our anniversary for years. We decided to order directly from the source this time and it was even better than we expected. We were able to finally try Wagyu and it was fantastic. It was buttery and rich right out of the pan without having to add anything extra. We will definitely be ordering again."

I would give this wagyu

"I would give this wagyu flank steak 10 stars if they were available! Honestly, it was the most tender flank I have ever prepared and eaten. I did make a marinade but frankly it was more effort than it was worth and this incredible flank did not need it. Next time, just salt and pepper and some garlic. I seared it in my cast iron skillet and finished it quickly in the oven. It was so tender that it almost fell apart in my hands while I was moving it around . To prepare just salt generously with kosher salt and let it sit around for awhile. Bring to room temp before searing. Two large meals and sandwiches for several days. Best ever!! SRF was wonderful with the billing and packing. Their meat has always arrived frozen and packed in dry ice. A nice plus: they also send the above in a zippered, substantial bag for future use. I am really just a regular, senior user! That is: not paid or asked for this review. You definitely get what you pay for from SRF!"

My husband and I are

"My husband and I are originally from the Bay Area/San Francisco area then we moved to Palm Desert. So we’ve been spoiled with some pretty fabulous restaurants however, it seems in the last couple of years ordering a steak out is a big disappointment, and our friend said the same thing. BUT then we tried SRF Wagu gold 8oz filets and now we just don’t even eat beef out anymore as having it at home is a no-brainer and we adore these steaks, especially with their salt, pepper, garlic rub!! We are spoiled, spoiled, spoiled by SRF."
