Cooking Tips

We found an excellent way to upgrade your SRF lobster eating experience – super size it. Our jumbo Maine lobster tails are 16 to 20 oz. in size. Pair one with a SRF steak for a surf and turf dinner that will exceed the quality of high-end steakhouses. A lobster of this size is big enough to share but will also satisfy the biggest lobster craving.

Like all our lobster tails, these are wild caught in US waters and meet strict standards for sustainability. The jumbo Maine lobster tails are traceable products, free from hormones, antibiotics and GMOs. Each package is labeled with a traceability sticker that specifies the landing location and catch method.

Average weight: 16 to 20 oz.

Thaw your lobster completely for best results. It takes about 24 hours to thaw gently in the refrigerator.

Boiling is a fast and easy way to cook your lobster tails.

Bring approximately 8 cups of water to a boil.

Put thawed tails in boiling water and turn the heat down to a low simmer.

Cook one minute for every ounce of lobster meat (6 oz. tails will require 6 minutes of cooking). When done, the meat will be opaque and firm.

Wild, Not Farmed

Our seafood is caught in the wild from closely monitored fisheries located in the US. Wild caught is superior to farm raised seafood in terms of quality, but also limits overfishing, pollution and human rights violations. Small, family-owned operations use sustainable methods, such as hook and line or shallow nets, to responsibly catch our seafood and flash freeze it at its peak freshness. Our seafood is traceable and includes a label that shows the specific landing location and the catch method used.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to cook lobster tails

Gently thaw lobster tails overnight in the refrigerator. To prevent lobster tails from curling, run a wood or metal skewer lengthwise through each tail.

Fill a pot large enough to cover the lobster tails with water and bring to a rolling boil.

Reduce to a simmer and add salt, approximately a tablespoon per quart.

Add the 6 to 7 oz. tails to the boiling water and cook for 5 to 6 minutes. Check the internal temperature (you can insert in the thin underside) and target 140°F. Do not overcook.

Immediately remove lobster tails from the boiling water and immerse in cold water or place on a bed of ice to stop them from cooking.

Serve with melted butter. Feel free to add crushed garlic or lemon juice to the butter for a flavor boost. A sprinkling of chopped parsley or chives adds a pop of color and freshness.

Where is your seafood sourced from?

All seafood is wild caught in sustainably managed US fisheries. All fish purchased from SRF is labeled with the species name, catch location, catch method, and, if applicable, the vessel it was caught on. To ensure top quality, all seafood products are flash frozen at peak freshness.
