Few
foods encompass game day cuisine quite like nachos. Crispy chips, melted
cheese, perfectly seasoned ground beef and endless toppings take this dish to
the next flavor level. The real key to nacho perfection? Bake the chips, cheese
and meat in multiple layers to ensure just enough melted cheese in every single
bite.

Ingredients
-
1 lb American Wagyu ground beef
-
1 teaspoon kosher salt
-
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
-
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
-
3 cups tortilla chips
-
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
-
Guacamole, salsa, sour cream and additional toppings, for serving
Directions
Add the ground beef to a large skillet set over medium-high heat. Cook, breaking apart the meat with a spatula, until it is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. While the beef is cooking, in a small bowl, whisk together the salt, cumin, garlic powder, chili powder and dried oregano.
Drain any excess grease from the skillet then sprinkle the seasoning mix on top of the beef and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Arrange half of the chips in the bottom of a 9-inch cast-iron skillet or baking pan. Top the chips with half of the shredded cheddar cheese and half of the ground beef mixture. Place the skillet in the oven just until the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes, then carefully remove it and top it with a second layer of chips, cheese and ground beef. Return it to the oven until the top layer of cheese is melted, about 5 more minutes.
Remove the skillet from the oven and top the nachos with guacamole, salsa, sour cream or your preferred toppings.
